We offer a venue for supported contact so sessions and families are not closely monitored. The volunteers are always glad to help, for example, if it has been a time since the non-resident family member saw the child(ren), then the volunteers may discreetly offer some ideas about play. We have a child centered environment that put the needs of the children first with a large play area and a range of toys suitable for different age groups.
The visiting person will be responsible for their child(ren) at all times. We do not provide counselling or mediation.
The centre is run by volunteers, all of whom have received appropriate training and who are safety checked i.e Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checked.
The centre is usually open from 10:00am to 1:00pm every 1st & 3rd Saturday of each month. Days are subject to change during public holidays, so ensure you check our calendar. Refreshments are available although the person visiting the child may bring their own refreshments along.
What we do? Where and when? Referrals? Arriving? Rules? Moving contact on? Complaints?
About 'Supported' contact provided by our centre and the roles of staff and parents in supporting your child(ren).
A referral can be from a solicitor, family mediator, CAFCASS Officer or court order. You may also self-refer.
There are 2 types of child contact services; supported and supervised. King's Lynn Child Contact Centre is a 'Supported' Contact Centre where the role of the Staff and volunteers is to assist parents and to help create a nice comfortable atmosphere.
The centre is accredited by the NACCC (National Association of Contact Centres). This is recognised by CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) and the judiciary as the standard required, ensuring the needs of children and families come first. The centre is run by volunteers all of whom have received appropriate training and are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked, thus ensuring the safety of your child(ren).
We ask for an initial ‘visiting family member’ Referral Fee of £50 (for 6 months). The parent with residence is also asked to make a donation.
If the parties do not wish to meet, the visiting parent must arrive 10-15 minutes before the escorting parent and child. At the end of the session the visiting parent must stay behind for 10 -15 minutes after the session has ended.
If you can’t attend an appointment please let the Senior co-ordinator know as soon as you can to avoid any wasted journeys. Please also let your partner know, if you can, or tell us in good time so that we pass on the information.
As few as possible. However, the Centre is used by several families at the same time so we have to ensure the safety of everyone and give consideration for others. The Contact Centre rules are contained within the Information For Parents document.
